Saturated

The month of June in central Illinois was the wettest June on record!  It was also the second wettest month of all months in recorded history. Normal rainfall is around 4 inches.  Here on the farm, I dumped almost 12 inches of rain from my gauge in June!  We had a seven day break in early July, and then it started raining again.  During the break, we were fortunate to get all of our soybeans sprayed.  Because of how late it was, we chose not to try to replant the wet spots.  Most of the ponds have now filled with water again.  Our wheat was just about fit to harvest at the end of last week, but now we will have to wait for another string of dry weather.  Because of the wet spring, a lot of the wheat is showing up with high Vomitoxin (a mycotoxin) levels. We will be sending a sample to a lab to get it tested because our elevator will not take our wheat if the level is too high.

The cattle lot is a sloppy, unsightly mess!
