surrender

I Surrender All
1. All to Jesus I surrender;
all to him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust him,
in his presence daily live.

Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all,
all to thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

2. All to Jesus I surrender;
humbly at his feet I bow,
worldly pleasures all forsaken;
take me, Jesus, take me now.
(Refrain)

3. All to Jesus I surrender;
make me, Savior, wholly thine;
fill me with thy love and power;
truly know that thou art mine.
(Refrain)

4. All to Jesus I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to thee;
fill me with thy love and power;
let thy blessing fall on me.
(Refrain)

5. All to Jesus I surrender;
now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to his name!
(Refrain)
As we were singing this beautiful hymn the other evening, some questions entered my mind. After I got to the end of the second verse I stopped singing and started asking these questions to myself. It was a good exercise.
I surrender all. Do I?
I did! Do I still?
worldly pleasures all forsaken. Have I?
I did! Do I still?
Hard Questions.
know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
