Spring Update

It's been a while!  I have been busy.

For Christmas, Daughter #2 gave me a mushroom farm.  I finally got around to start the grow process.  It only produces one crop, but they were a delicacy chopped up and added to our scrambled eggs one Sunday morning.

I planted a bunch of trees again this spring.  I added two cherry trees, two red maples, an almond, a peach, and two blueberry bushes.  The fruit trees replace ones that died in the last year or two, but the others are new.  Then this week Son #2 brought four oak trees home from work (Earth Day) so we planted them in landscape pots to be replanted someday.

We now have three Black walnuts, two English walnuts, two Almonds, two Pecans, three Cherry, two Peach, two Pear, and eight Apple trees.

On April 8th, we saw sun, rain, sleet, and snow!  A well rounded day!

The transmission went out of our four wheel drive tractor last fall, and we debated all winter on whether we should fix it and replace all eight tires (at a cost of about $30,000) or trade up to something bigger and newer.  We finally made the decision to trade about the first of April.  It showed up in our yard three days before we started planting.  We were cutting it a little close!  It is a 2010 CIH Steiger 335.

We still had a frost the morning of the 14th, the soil temp was a little cool, so we waited until the 15th to start planting corn.  We had a couple of minor problems, but planting went smoothly over all and soil conditions were excellent.  We finished today, the 23rd, having planted six of the days since starting.  This may be the earliest we have ever finished planting corn!

He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.
Ezekiel 17:5
