March?

March weather has been rather unpredictable.  Up and down.  We've had lots of rain, but also it has snowed three times!  There was a big snow predicted that was a dud, which ended up mostly just rain.  This weekend we are back in the deep freeze; it was 11 degrees when I went out for chores this morning and a little snow on the ground.  We've had as much winter in March as we did in February.  I tried several days to haul liquid manure, but didn't get much done.  Even though the top couple inches freeze overnight, the ground is so muddy underneath that the weight of the spreader breaks through and I cut ruts in the field.  I tried just hauling half loads, but it didn't make much difference.  I would like to get it all hauled on hard ground so I don't have to cause so much compaction in the spring.

We finally had Perrin's one year old birthday party in T-town after an illness postponement. Son #2 and family spent a weekend with us, and we were able to celebrate Katrina's birthday.  And the big news is we had another granddaughter born this week in Grabill.  We now have 9 granddaughters to only 4 grandsons.  The old farmers wife headed out to Grabill to help out, so I was a bachelor for five days.  There were lots of leftovers in the fridge, and Taco Bell is just a few miles away!  I did alright.

Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.                               Isaiah 66:9
