Staycation

I didn't make it to the big family vacation this year.  I understand they had a good time without me.

Grandma with most of her grandkids.

We had a 3 day stay-cation  with our kids and grandkids a couple weeks ago.  It was some of those hot, humid days with occasional rain.  That kept 20 of us stuck in the old farmhouse much of the time.  It got a little chaotic at times!  Six of the children needing naps and diaper changes made it challenging in that environment!  But, it was good to have everyone together and I think everyone enjoyed it.

We spent one afternoon and evening at Uncle Roy's lake, which was a highlight.  The kids enjoyed swimming, the rope swing, and fishing.  We had a picnic supper in the new shelter with good food. I think God must have created bluegills for watching the thrill of kids catching them!  All of the kids who were old enough to fish caught some, although some were disappointed that we were releasing them.

The kids enjoyed Bicycle Safety Town one morning despite the heat and humidity.  The adults were able to find shade to watch from.

At home when the weather permitted, there was swimming in the cow tank, lots of sidewalk chalk, lots of bubbles floating in the air, and a tour around the farm.

When we were stuck in the house, there were games, projects, dress-up, and a tent.  And lots of good food!  Overall, we enjoyed watching the cousins interact and have fun together despite the chaos.

And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.              Esther 9:28
